Conservation popular at Otehei Bay

Delegates to Explore’s Otehei Bay venue in the Bay of Islands are increasingly interested in conservation activities. Dinna Sansalvador, business development manager at Explore Group, says that while there has been heightened demand from groups for Otehei Bay, she is seeing more and more interest in activities that involve the environment, such as tree planting, weed busting and wildlife restoration projects.

Explore works closely with Project Island Song, a community restoration initiative with the most recent reintroduction being kakariki – New Zealand’s native parakeet. ‘After an absence of 30 years in the Bay of Islands the new residents are set to become the region’s latest tourist attraction,’ Sansalvador says.
