Cordis AKL expansion on way

Cordis, Auckland has officially completed its multi-million dollar refurbishment, following its rebranding from The Langham Hotel in November last year.

The refurbishment included 411 rooms and suites, a new Lobby Lounge and Club Floor.

In addition to the completed refurbishment, the hotel will debut an extension, set for 2020. The tower block will bring the current 411 rooms to 650 rooms and suites.

The new expansion plans will make the hotel the largest in New Zealand in terms of room count.

The hotel currently has event space in excess of 2000 square metres, however, there are plans to add a new event space of approximately 400 square metres offering natural light and multiple configurations.

Franz Mascarenhas, managing director of Cordis, Auckland says the expansion will meet the increasing demand for business and leisure travellers visiting Auckland as a result of the successful tourism campaigns by Tourism New Zealand.

The hotel’s new tower is scheduled to be opened in the fourth quarter of 2020, in time for The America’s Cup and Asia Pacific Economic Forum (APEC), two major events slated to be held in Auckland the following year.
