Marriott on a mission in NZ

One of the largest hotel trade expos to happen in New Zealand will take place late May, when the Marriott International Global Sales Mission is held at the Maritime Room in Auckland.

Conference and incentive organisers, wholesalers and corporate travel agents/travel management companies are among the invitees.

The Mission is the first time Marriott has brought its showcase to these shores and encompasses what used to be known as the Starwood Expo. It is significantly larger than the Starwood event – with at least 24 hotels expected rather than the previous 15.

Marieke Mendez, director global sales New Zealand with Marriott International, says highlights will include attendance by the new Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay and totally new destinations such as Peru, Japan and Korea.

Among the other destinations that will have hotels on show are New Caledonia, Samoa, Sydney, Gold Coast, Vietnam, Bali, Singapore, China, Japan, Thailand.

Mendez says a key change this year is the ability of attendees to pre-book appointments with hotels they want to see.

‘This way participants will have time to discuss specific opportunities or group enquiries and everybody will have a chance to meet everyone they need to. It is more efficient and time effective for all parties.’

The Marriott International Global Sales Mission takes place on Monday 29 May from 3pm to 8pm, so people can choose to attend either the afternoon or evening session. A cocktail function will start at 7pm.

Official registration opens in about a week but in the meantime, anyone wanting to attend or receive more information can send their expressions of interest to:
