Edgewater goes 100% Vaccinated

Lake Wanaka’s Edgewater Hotel will be accepting only fully vaccinated guests from Friday 3 December, to coincide with the introduction of the new Covid-19 Protection Framework.  

This policy will also apply to staff and suppliers – in essence anyone who visits the hotel in any capacity. 

The hotel’s management and board had been carefully considering the best way to navigate the complex rules and regulations around safely operating in the Covid-19 environment, before arriving that the blanket decision. 


According to general manager Catherine Bone, “The board and senior management had been actively considering the safest way continue to welcome our guests and the conclusion was to accept only fully vaccinated guests, staff and suppliers at the hotel”.  

As a full service resort property Edgewater has overnight guests staying and day visitors to the Wineglass Café.  In addition the conferencing facilities provide services for conference delegates, wedding guests and general meeting & trade event attendees.  Maintaining the property involves a dedicated team of staff and regular suppliers of goods and services to the hotel. 


Agents with guest bookings will need to advise their clients checking-in from Thursday 2 December 2021 that they will need to produce an official My Vaccine Pass at the time of arrival.  The official start of the new traffic light system is 11.59pm on Thursday 2 December.  Day and overnight visitors will need to provide their Vaccine Pass effectively from Friday 3 December onwards. 

For future accommodation bookings for un-vaccinated clients, upon agent advice, we will cancel their booking with no penalty.
