The resort at Karioitahi Beach already has a strong corporate meetings and incentives reputation, especially in the winter months before the summer wedding season kicks in.
Steve Woods, group marketing and development manager with Marsden Hotels and Resorts, says castaways is definitely seeing weekend leisure travel return post pandemic and there is also a revival of business events during the week.
At present the resort offers the Main Clifftop Venue, that takes up to about 120 people, and has a number of areas for smaller meetings (which can also be catered for by the chalet and villa accommodation on site).
For something different and separated from the main resort, Castaways offers a glam camping venue, which can sleep up to 48 guests in purpose built two bedroom tents, all with private ensuites.
The venue has a stone fire pit, outdoor bar, wood fire pizza oven, expansive outdoor kitchen with spit roast, and a large dining area and comes with an onsite cook/host.
"We are planning a PCO (professional conference organisers) famil up here in Spring, not only to show them what we have but also to gauge interest in a larger events space," says Woods.
