Capstone Hotel management secures Portage Resort

New Zealand owned Capstone Hotel Management have  been appointed as the new management company for Portage Resort (most recently The Portage Hotel) as of 1st August 2023.

Capstone Hotels has taken over reservations and trade enquiries for Portage Resort, and plan to host an open day on Friday 6 October for local tourism operators and the community to meet the new management team and learn about their refresh plans for the property.

The owners’ representative for the Marlborough Sounds property, Letitia Morettini says, “We are delighted to have Portage Resort come under the management of locally based Capstone Hotel Management. Clare Davies and her team have a strong understanding of the top of the south region and in particular the Marlborough Sounds, having worked with lodges in the area, including management of Awaroa Lodge in the Abel Tasman National Park. Capstone has a strong understanding of the logistics and challenges of managing a remote property and the team are extremely committed to reinvigorating Portage back to its former glory,” concluded Letitia.

Capstone managing director, Clare Davies, says “We are absolutely thrilled to be joining the owners of Portage Resort to commence an exciting new chapter for the property. We look forward to adding the Capstone touch and reintroducing the property and new leadership team to the international tourism sector and recementing its place in the heart of locals and New Zealanders,” concluded Clare.

Portage Resort was established in the early 1900’s and over the past 30 years has evolved into an international property offering peace and tranquillity close to the popular Queen Charlotte Track and overlooking the Kenepuru Sound. The resort features 42 hotel rooms, a restaurant and bar including the Snapper Bar which is popular with the locals, plus an outdoor pool and a range of on-site activities.
